How to Get More Customers
By Eric Hammer
It is the job of every business owner to try to get more customers
into their stores or onto their websites or phone lines. However,
in an increasingly crowded marketplace and in a world where money
is somewhat scarce, it can be a bit difficult to accomplish this
feat. That said, it's not impossible and in fact, there are a
number of excellent strategies that can be followed which will
allow you to build a larger customer base and to make more money
from them. Here's what you need to know:
First, Focus on Existing Customers
First, you need to focus on existing customers before you
try to get more customers. This means ensuring that those who
are already making purchases from your company are happy and
satisfied with their experience. The reasons for this are twofold:
First, existing customers who are happy are much easier to
make money off of than brand new customers whom you must recruit.
Second, keeping your existing customers happy is probably
the easiest way to get more customers - pretty much everyone
in the world has friends and or family whom they talk to. If
they are happy with your services, who do you think they are
likely to recommend when their friends or family need the same
services?
Next, Build Relationships with Potential Customers
Nobody likes being sold to. People like to be offered the
chance to make a purchase of a product after they feel comfortable
with the product and or the person offering the product. This
means that if you want to get more customers, you need to recruit
them by being genuine and friendly when they come into your sphere
of influence. If you run a restaurant for example, be sure to
greet new customers warmly so that they feel as if they have
come to a place they'll want to return to again and again.
If you run a website, be sure to have special offers available
for new visitors so that you can get more customers from those
visitors. This often means offering a freebie in exchange for
having them sign up for your mailing list so that they'll be
more likely to do so. In fact, those running a website should
first and foremost set up a mailing list as this is the single
most effective way to retain visitors, rather than constantly
trying to get more customers to visit your site for the first
time.
Keep Them Entertained
Finally, if you want to get more customers, you need to keep
people entertained. This means that your advertising needs to
do more than just show that you have low, low prices. If you
are able to create a video for example which can go viral on
a place like YouTube, then you are more likely to get more customers
that way because people like to be entertained when do their
shopping. If you're not the type who has that kind of personality,
then look for people who do have that kind of personality to
help you get your message out there.
Bottom Line
Think about how you'd like to be treated if you were a customer
of your store, website or other business and then treat potential
new customers the same way. Nothing is more likely to help you
get more customers than that.
